About Us
The Hills Musical Company (HMC) was formed in 1972 to make use of the Stirling Institute, which was then mostly an unused building under threat of being demolished and replaced by a supermarket chain. The HMC's inaugural production was Cole Porter’s Kiss Me, Kate in 1973, directed by Didy Pederick and John McGregor with Leith Pederick as Musical Director.
Today the HMC is a fixture of the community and a well established resident company of the Stirling Community Theatre, along with the Stirling Players (formed in 1972) and the Hills Youth Theatre (formed in 1986). The resident companies rehearse and perform throughout the year, sharing theatre and rehearsal spaces, a shed full of sets and props and a costume room bursting at the seams with outfits for any era. It is a thriving community hub that brings in hundreds of people every week.
The legacy of the HMC’s original production team is a solid foundation for the company’s many successes over the years. The Hills Musical Company has won numerous awards for a wide range of productions. It has a reputation of choosing shows that are both crowd pleasers and creative risks.
